Carnegie Hall has announced the launch of an on-demand video network entitled Carnegie Hall+ that features recorded performances of classical artists that have appeared at the New York’s venue.<\/p>\n
The platform will include operas from the Salzburger Festspiele and the Bayreuther Festspiele’s 1979-80 staging of Wagner\u2019s “Der Ring des Nibelungen” that was directed by Patrice Ch\u00e9reau. Concerts and ballets will be also offered by such stars as Luciano Pavarotti, Ren\u00e9e Fleming, Leontyne Price, Anna Netrebko and Jonas Kaufmann. Famed conductors such as Leonard Bernstein, Herbert von Karajan, Georg Solti, Carlos Kleiber, Riccardo Muti and Claudio Abbado will also be featured.<\/p>\n
“There\u2019s a lot of singular projects in the marketplace of organizations that are promoting and presenting their own work, but we felt we had the opportunity to create the destination in this area,” said Carnegie Executive and Artistic director Clive Gillinson in a statement. “We bring the very best of everything from all around the world and present it here. We felt to transfer that into the virtual world would be incredibly compelling.”<\/p>\n
Carnegie Hall+ will present future performances from the famed venue but has not decided whether it will be streamed live or as recordings.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s just as valid to have the Berlin Philharmonic from Berlin or the Vienna Philharmonic from Vienna on the virtual stage as it is to have them in Carnegie Hall. There are no limitations on where you collect your content,” added Gillinson.<\/p>\n
Carnegie Hall+, created in a partnership with Unitel, was to launch on Dec. 9, 2021. It costs $7.99 per month and is available through the Apple TV app and smart televisions, Roku, Amazon Fire and other devices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
