The Oxford Lieder Festival has announced its 21st season.<\/p>\n
The season opens with \u201cCulture, Counterculture, and Conviviality,\u201d a two-part event that features a look at the salon culture, followed by a more specific look at that music world through Pauline Viardot\u2019s own involvement. The event features speaker Natasha Loges and such artists as Charlotte Bowden, Alexandria Moon, Zahid Siddiqui, Johnathan Eyers, and Avishka Edrinsinghe.<\/p>\n
Performance Date: <\/strong>Oct. 14, 2022<\/em><\/p>\n Mezzo-soprano Helen Charlston and lutenist Toby Carr perform \u201cBattle Cry,\u201d a program featuring music by Purcell, Monteverdi, and Barbara Strozzi.<\/p>\n Performance Date: <\/strong>Oct. 14, 2022<\/em><\/p>\n Soprano Kate Royal, mezzo Christine Rice, tenor Magnus Walker, and pianists Julius Drake and Eunji Han will perform music by Brahms, Schumann, and Weill.<\/p>\n Performance Date: <\/strong>Oct. 14, 2022<\/em><\/p>\n There will be a two-part exploration of Strauss\u2019 life in song entitled \u201cFreundliche Vision.\u201d The showcase will feature speaker Gavin Plumley, soprano Emily Christina Loftus, baritone Wonsick Oh, and pianists George Ireland and Aron Goldin.<\/p>\n Performance Date: <\/strong>Oct. 15, 2022<\/em><\/p>\n Soprano Sarah Wegener and pianist G\u00f6tz Payer perform music by Strauss.<\/p>\n Performance Date: <\/strong>Oct. 15, 2022<\/em><\/p>\n Benjamin Appl and lutenist Thomas Dunford perform music by Dowland, Bach, Schubert, Hahn, and Faur\u00e9, among others.<\/p>\n Performance Date: <\/strong>Oct. 15, 2022<\/em><\/p>\n Baritone Thomas Oliemans performs Schubert\u2019s \u201cWinterreise;\u201d he will also play at the piano.
