{"id":95029,"date":"2024-12-23T02:00:15","date_gmt":"2024-12-23T07:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/operawire.com\/?p=95029"},"modified":"2024-12-20T11:38:11","modified_gmt":"2024-12-20T16:38:11","slug":"instituto-cervantes-to-host-panel-discussion-with-pedro-halffter-on-klara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/operawire.com\/instituto-cervantes-to-host-panel-discussion-with-pedro-halffter-on-klara\/","title":{"rendered":"Instituto Cervantes to Host Panel Discussion With Pedro Halffter on &#8216;KLARA&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6 style=\"text-align: right;\">(Photo credit: National Sawdust)<\/h6>\n<p>Spanish composer and conductor Pedro Halffter will take part in a panel discussion on his new chamber opera, &#8220;KLARA.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Opera Hisp\u00e1nica in collaboration with National Sawdust, Divaria Productions, and the New York City Opera, presents the New York premiere of &#8220;KLARA,&#8221; in a new production directed and choreographed by choreographer Richard Stafford. &#8220;KLARA&#8221; features soprano <a href=\"https:\/\/www.operabase.com\/ashley-galvani-bell-a2325715\/en\">Ashley Galvani Bell<\/a>, dancer Laura Henning, and Silvia Santinelli and Halffter at the pianos.<\/p>\n<p>The opera in four haikus uses enigmatic lyrics to emphasize the play between choreography and singing. This production engages the audiences in a current reflection on the development of artificial intelligence, and what it means to be human.<\/p>\n<p>In preparation, for the performance at National Sawdust on Feb. 28, Opera Hisp\u00e1nica will lead a talk with the composer, Panoyotis Mavromatis from NYU&#8217;s Department of Music who works on the intersection of music and technology, and Rutgers professor Cameron Domenico Kirk-Giannini, who is part of the Rutgers-Newark initiative in Computer Science, Data Science, and artificial intelligence technologies. The Feb. 26, 2025 event will be held at the Instituto Cervantes in New York,\u00a0 as part of its Fake News and Perception of Reality series.
